Robert was the very first person to join me on the Energize Ministries‘ leadership team more than fifteen years ago. As so many have already said, everything- literally everything about His life was rooted in serving the Lord and consequently serving others. His life was spent ministering to family, friends, parishioners, and many, many other pastors. Over the years we have traveled across the country and the world to provide care and training for pastors and their families. He was passionate about supporting the preaching and teaching of God’s word, and Robert had a way of sharing his wisdom and experience with incredible humility that I’ve often recognized as just another one of His God-given gifts.
Dr. William Robert Steele II has been welcomed into eternity by the arms of Jesus, and has earned every right to hear the words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant!” We may mourn his absence here, but I thank God for the gift of his life, friendship, and the eternal impact of his time well spent on the earth.
1 Thessalonians chapter 2 gives us a picture of authentic Christian leadership and mentorship. Robert lived it, and I can’t help but picture him reciting verses 19-20, “For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when He comes. Is it not you? Indeed, you are our glory and joy.”
