Ephesians 4:29 reminds us, “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, that is may give grace to those who hear.” Are you using your tongue and words for praise or criticism of your spiritual leaders? Proverbs tells us, “Kind words are like honey—sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.”
But more often than not, this is our reality. “I really do not like…_____ (you fill in the blank), how long the sermon went, how loud the music is, the color of the new carpet, just to name a few.
Why is it that negative comments and criticism can so easily pour forth from our lips, while well-deserved positive feedback is withheld?
How about pouring some HONEY into your pastor’s soul today! Did you get something from the sermon this past week? Did your pastor call to check in on your family during this time of social distancing or offer to pray for a specific need you had?
Kind words do not cost you much and you may forget tomorrow the kinds words you say today, but the recipient may cherish them over a lifetime.
