How’s my driving? Call 1-800… Have you ever called that number or at least been tempted to call it after being cut off? Recently a man called the number and began telling the call-service attendant that their driver was abiding by the speed limit, staying in his lane, and properly using his turn signal. As the list of compliments went on, he was interrupted by the attendant who put him on speaker phone so that all in the call center could hear and then asked him to repeat the compliments. She went on to share that in 10 years of working there, she had never had a person call in to compliment one of their drivers.
Why is it that we are so quick to judge and complain and so slow to give a word of encouragement and praise? Proverbs tells us about the power we hold in our tongues. “Kind words are like honey–sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. A person’s words can be life-giving water. Gentle words bring life and health. Your own soul is nourished when you are kind, but you destroy yourself when you are cruel.”
How amazing that God actually gives your soul and body nourishment when we give out encouragement and praise to others. #BE THE ONE who looks for the good and is quick to give out that life-giving water.
